The Young Leaders Training Forum 2019 (For Politically Interested Youth)

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Uganda office, invites politically interested and active young people to apply for the 2019 intake of the Young Leaders Training Forum.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is a German political foundation with more than 100 offices worldwide. It is dedicated to the promotion of international dialogue and social justice. In Uganda, FES supports the transition to multi-party democracy. It is involved in capacity building for civil society organizations, it works with political parties, trade unions, media, and youth. Its aim is to strengthen democratic institutions and civil society and to encourage political participation.

The FES Young Leaders Training Forum

The Young Leaders Training Forum is an initiative of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) whose aim is to contribute to the development of the political, social, economic knowledge and skills of young women and men and to motivate them to advocate for social justice and good governance in Uganda.

Young Leaders Training Forum comprises eight mostly policy- or issue-based modules, each lasting two days which will take place between February and October 2019. The training sessions consisting of lectures, workshops, and participatory interactions will be conducted by external experts. The training is fully funded by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

Eligibility

  • Ugandan citizenship or proof of residency.
  • Aged between 18 and 30 years.
  • Have a minimum of “A” level education.
  • Have proven commitment to public affairs, community involvement or advocacy.

Each application must be accompanied by:

  • An updated and complete CV with three referees.
  • Copies of A’ level certificate and any other academic transcripts if applicable.
  • A letter of motivation for participation and future plans relating to the programme (You should clearly state your expectations towards the programme and how you would use your acquired knowledge & skills to make an impact in society.)
  • Evidence of past and present leadership responsibilities or social and/or political engagement.

Application Process

  • Deadline for application (online and hard copy) is Monday 5th November 2018, 5:00 PM.
  • Only complete applications will be considered.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for interviews which will tentatively take place between the 15th January and 3rd February 2019.
  • The first training module will take place from 21st – 24th February 2019.

Successful candidates are expected to attend all the training sessions. After successful participation in the programme, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

    what then happens when one has received the certificate of attendance? does the entire process stop there or there is something beyond?
