One Young World

The One Young World Kampala International University Caucus 2019

Uganda has one of the world’s largest percentages of young people under 30, estimated at 78%. Unfortunately, this young population suffers from one of the highest unemployment rates in Sub-Saharan Africa.

It is estimated that more than 400,000 young people graduate from Ugandan universities each year and yet, the market can provide only 8,000 jobs annually. In addition, some of the knowledge and education being passed onto young people is obsolete and no longer relevant to our changing circumstances.

One Young World Kampala International University Caucus

The One Young World Kampala International University Caucus will bring together university students from Ugandan universities to generate dialogue and exchange on the potential of entrepreneurship, innovation and technology to transform their lives.

Their main goal is to inspire students to take action toward changing some of the country’s biggest issues.

The caucus will include the following activities;

  • An opening keynote speech by the One Young World Ambassador
  • Panel discussions on post graduate blues (After university what next?) and how should young people position themselves for life while still at and after university?
  • A pitching competition
  • Networking session
  • Closing keynote by a young leader
