A Report on the Future of Retail 2020 (Uganda’s Retail Business Environment)
The Innovation Village in partnership with Stanbic Bank & Rocket Health recently launched the Future of Retail Thought Leadership Report for 2020.
The report shares a glimpse into the current business environment as Uganda’s retail sector, largely composed of MSMEs, has been impacted by the measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 and yet is a stronghold of Uganda’s economy employing more than 2.5 million people.
On the other hand, the Future of Retail Thought Leadership report provides key insights into the trends and opportunity spaces that are reshaping retail trade as we know it through which players within the ecosystem such as government, private sector, the development community and entrepreneurs can leverage to build a valuable sector in a post COVID world.
Where there are great challenges, there are equally great opportunities. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a chance to develop new ways of adapting to significant paradigm shifts and strategies, by anchoring the youth at the centre in order to achieve the desired middle-income status.
Additionally, the implementation of feasible policies on taxation, access to patient capital and infrastructure are needed to create an enabling environment to stimulate a thriving digital economy.
