Dfcu Rising Woman Initiative
Through the Rising Woman Initiative, Dfcu partners with Daily Monitor and Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) to carry out several initiatives to recognize, celebrate and promote a culture of mentorship among women entrepreneurs in Uganda.
Participants in the Rising Woman initiative access opportunities to network at four power talks/forums countrywide addressing issues the businesses are facing. The Power talks host both local and regional female successful entrepreneurs to empower women in business.
The training this year will focus on:
- Basic business skills
- Business planning
- Enterprise management
- Getting financial support
- Winning tenders
- Marketing your products
Cash Prize and Study trip
The top 3 winners walk away with cash prizes of UGX 5 million, UGX 10 million and UGX 15 million. But that’s not all, the top 10 winners get an all-expenses study tour trip to Nairobi.
One-year access to the dfcu Women in Business Advisory Centre located at the dfcu Towers, Plot 26 Kyadondo Road. A team of experts will be available to give advice on taxation, business performance, investment and marketing.

Women entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to sign up for the dfcu Women in Business programme at no cost and will enjoy the following;
- Business advisory services
- A dedicated Relationship Manager
- Business training and mentorship opportunities
- Local & international business linkages and study tours
- Opportunity to grow savings through dfcu Investment Clubs
The season two Rising Woman initiative will climax with a 2-day expo that will take place in Kampala. The expo will be free of charge for a select set of Rising Woman participants and at a cost for non-participants. The Expo will provide a platform for showcasing products and services as well as networking opportunities. Additionally, power talks will be held during the expo.
Attend any one of the Rising Woman business trainings that will take place in the major regional towns countrywide at no cost.

How to Apply
Interested applicants for the Rising Woman Initiative are advised to write a business proposal highlighting their business idea, what makes it unique, anticipated results, the impact of the business idea on the community and the type of support required.
